Renon prides itself on a long history of ice hockey. SC Ritten/Renon was one of the first ice hockey teams in Italy celebrating its debut competing in the Italian Championship Series in 1929. No wonder you can hear locals talk passionately about hockey all winter long. The long-standing tradition of playing this fast-paced game is also reflected in the number of kids and grownups you’ll see chasing pucks just for the fun and joy of it on Ritten’s rinks and the pond in Costalovara.
Throughout the past decade, the first team, the “Rittner Buam” (“Ritten Boys”), has won the Coppa Italia three times, the Supercoppa Italiana twice, and the First Italian League’s Championship Series once. Watching the “Boys” battle on home ice is always an exciting experience full of action and emotions.
